Lizzie's First Days

What a week! We've been so busy I haven't had a chance to post here, but everyone saw the early pictures anyway. Lizzie looks so much like her brother we can't believe it. Swap the brown hair for blonde and you have baby Carson!

We're hoping to go home early Friday, but we won't know that until later tonight or Friday morning.

There's a couple photo albums with pictures of Lizzie (including some of Carson holding her). Some of the pictures are from right after she was born, so they're a little...uh...gooey, but there's nothing gross or anything. You can see them here:

Birthday only (some gooey, all cute :)

I broke our new house. I'll fix it tomorrow.

Before they drywalled the house, I ran speaker wire in between the recessed lights in the living room for some ceiling mounted speakers. That way, all I had to do was cut a hole in between the lights and grab the wire without much in the way of measuring (except to make sure the light is in the center of the room).

What I didn't realize was that one set of lights was in the middle of the joist cavity, while the others were butted up against one joist. I did the former first, and everything went fine. For the other one, I measured the center, traced the template, and started cutting. Then, about 25% into the cut, bzzt, sparks, dark. I hit a wire.

So now, in addition to patching the hole a bit and moving the speaker out an inch or two, I also have to replace some wire between the lights. I'm lucky it's just one run and it's in the same joist cavity. I just need to fish from one light to the other. And since there's already a giant hole in the middle of the lights, that's nice and easy, too!

So there's my project for tomorrow. 10' of wire, a little bit of joint compound, and some careful undoing of a really boneheaded move. Kaylene was sitting there when I did it, too, no doubt mad because I just broke her new house.

Moving day

Not too many pictures of moving day, actually. Too busy actually moving! Kevin, Corey, Terry, Brian Lewis, and Scott Shields helped with the loading/unloading, while Judy and Laura took care of getting the inside of the house organized. Sister-in-law Lisa watched Carson most of the day, which took a load off Kaylene so she didn't overdo it with just 10 days to go until the baby comes. It's great to have such amazing friends and family. We definitely wouldn't have been able to do this without them.

We brought Carson in after all the moving was done. There's a play room off the living room, and all of the toys that he used to play with before the move were in there. He had a blast going through them all, and all he could talk about the rest of the night was "toys" and "new house."

He managed to dig up a toy camera and he started walking around pretending to take pictures of the house!

Once we get situated, we'll put up some more stuff. 9 days until the baby comes now...we're making good progress, though.

Carson driving his car with Elmo

Just a quick video of Elmo "helping" Carson drive his little car the same way he's helped me move my truck around. He's just about too big for this thing, but he still likes driving it around.

The First Attempt

I have been wanting to create a place to share things that our kids do and give you a quick inside to our lives. I find something that Carson does or says daily that I think is amazing. This website lets us post photos and videos pretty easily, so we will try and keep this updated at much as possible so keep checking back! You can see updates a few ways:
And, you can comment on the posts, too...you know, if you have something to say!

The last few months

I am going to back-track and share what we have been up to over the last couple of months.

We have been living at my mom's house since may, while our house is being built. Our time here is coming to and end, as we will be moving into our house at the end of the week. Both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. We will have just over a week to get ourselves somewhat settled before we are scheduled to have our baby girl. We thought just moving or having a baby would be boring, so we decided to do both at the same time :)

We have been working hard on potty training the last couple months, Carson is doing great, which is a huge blessing. We were hoping to have him out of diapers before the baby comes, we are definitely on track for that.

Up until the last week we had a 2 year old that we still rocked to sleep. Knowing that life was going to get crazy adding another little one, we had to take suck it up and make him go to sleep on his own. The first night was horrible, he cried for an hour and a half, saying, "where did my mommy go", "see mommy" and "rock-rock". I, along with him cried and it took all I had to not run in his room and rock him to sleep. I can happily say, that it payed off to not run in after him. He now goes to sleep like a big boy with only a couple minutes of wining before he is out for the night. Mission Accomplished!

The last thing that I will share for today is the story of when Carson felt his baby sister. A couple weeks ago(when I was rocking Carson before bed) Carson was almost sleeping when the baby did one of hers big rollovers. Carson looks up at me laughing saying, "mommy baby moving". I told him that was his sister moving and he proceeded to say "more, more" There have been a few other times since that he was felt her moving, he laughs each time, as do I. Something to remember for sure!
